So, I have this short story to share because as soon as semester resumes, I am pretty sure I'm not fully recovered yet. So, might as well I share it before I had to give same explanation to a few people who might ask later.
FYI, I had a minor surgery last Monday.
And whoa! whoa! Hehee..
Nothing serious, nothing sooooo serious. Hehe.
September 9th in Dr. Gayathri's room :
Ms. K's eyes : eye drop left.eye drop right.check.eye drops again.check.
Dr. G : Your eyes are too dry. May be due to the constant air-conditioning and exposure to computers etc. So I'll give you some tear drops and we'll see how again 2 weeks later okay.
September 23rd in Dr. Gayathri's room :
Ms.K's eyes : eye drops.check.eye drops again.check.
Dr. G : You've been applying your tear drops ya?
Ms.K : Yes yes.
Dr. G : No improvement ya on your vision?
Ms.K : Still the same.
Dr. G : It seems that your eyelashes are growing into your eyes and poking your eye balls. Well, another fact that you have chinese eyes but it's not something we can blame of. The only solution is that you do what we call double eye lid surgery. However, I will refer you to Dr. Hari and get a second opinion.
Up to 4th floor to see Dr. Hari.
Ms.K's eyes : eye drops.check.
Dr.H : Ya. Seems that your eye lashes is going inside ya. Not like normal that it will curl out.
Back to Dr.G's room.
Dr.G : So that is the only solution. How old are you?
Ms.K : 21 this year.
Dr. G : Normally we recommend GA; General Anaesthetic for younger people. But if you want to do Local Anaesthetic, is also fine. It's up to the patient lah. So if you have decided, operation is every Monday and recovery usually will take up to 2 weeks but by 1 week is usually okay already.
Ms.K : We'll think about it. Thank you Dr.
In Dad's car.
Dad : Well, if we already know the solution, there's no point of doing nothing about it.
Ms. K : ........................
October 14th at THONEH.
1) Get injection at both sides due to... "I think the nurse is still new. She can't take my blood in one shot." Noticing that, she calls up a senior nurse to do it. Done in 5minutes.
2) Nurse asked if I want GA or LA. I said GA. I can't be relaxing hearing the doctors doing operation on my eyes.
3) Done.!
October 24th at THONEH. Operation Day.
Ms. K : Operation? Oh. Okay.
But hey, I wasn't nervous till I got into the operation theater.
Okay! I wanted to just faint straight away after hearing a patient nearby; he's like having some breathing complication and whatever noise I heard really scares me OKAY.!
Not just that, although I wasn't with my specs, I saw this patient; technically not the patient itself, but I saw at the end of the room; in another closed transparent room; CAN SEE THROUGH OFCOURSE !; I saw this camera with his/her eyeball being operated. OKAY! I REALLY WANT TO FAINT!!!
After Dr. Hema insert a needle on my hand; which needs to be there till I get discharged; to put the whatever injections needed; IF U KNOW WHAT I MEANT. haha.
Dr.Hema : I couldn't find you vain because you're too scared ya.
Ms.K : ........
I really felt like fainting. Hearing the nurse kept on saying 'Sir, operation dah habis ye. Boleh dengar tak?.... Sir, operation dah habis ye...'
OKAY. I FREAKED OUT A LOT.!! realllyyyyyyyyyy a lotttt.!
'Dear God, help me go through with this. Amen.'
Nurse A : I clean your eye ya.
Ms. K : ....
Nurse A : It's cold a bit ya..
Ms. K : ....
20 minutes later.
Nurse A : Do you want to go to the washroom?
Ms. K : No..
Nurse A : Okay.. Later we pushed you into the operation room ya..
Ms. K : Mmmm...
In the operation room.
Where I transferred bed first, then Dr. Hema gave me a sedative. Then a nurse put some wires to monitor my heart beat. Next, I remembered they put a oxygen mask over my mouth and the next thing I was sleeping. Then, 5 minutes later (to what I've felt like), I was awaken by the nurse and yes, the nurse said 'Kimberly, operation dah habis ye.. Do you have difficulties in breathing? Is it okay if I take away this oxygen mask?'
Okay nurse. U actually freaked me out constantly.
Ms. K : Nurse..
Nurse B : Ya..
Ms. K : Dah sudah ke?
Nurse B : Ye.. Operation dah habis ye..
Ms. K : Nurse..
Nurse B : Ye..
Ms. K : Sejuk..
*Freezing and shaking like it was in Atlantic*
Bed was moving.
Entered the lif.
Oh. Reached the ward.
With my eyes closed, I could hear...
Mom : Dia dah bangun ke?
Nurse ? : Dah.. She had woken up. Mungkin tengah ada sisa-sisa sedative tu lagi.
Ms. K : Couldn't open too much. No pain in the eye YET but I was so sleepy.
Mom and Dad and Karl left. It was 4.30 pm. And I fell to sleep.
And every half hour, the nurse came to check on my blood pressure.
Till it was 8.30pm that Mom, Dad and Karl came back.
Nurse C : Okay. Saya bagi you minum air dulu ye.
Ms. K : .....
Nurse C : Saya bagi you makan bubur dulu. Then after that baru boleh makan macam biasa lah.
Ms. K : ......
After eating the porridge, sleep again. Till...
Nurse C : Kimberly.. Ada rasa pening tak.? Nak muntah ke?
Ms. K : Tak ada...
Nurse C : You rasa you boleh balik tak malam ni?
Ms. K : Boleh..
Nurse C : Boleh ye.. Okay.. Saya cabut you punya jarum dulu then you boleh balik ye..
Ms. K : Okay...
Nurse C : Ini ubat you. Kunyah macam makan gula-gula. 3 kali sehari okay.
Ubat ni you datang balik esok. Nanti nurse akan ajar you lah macam mana nak apply. Muka jangan bagi basah ye. Boleh lap jelah. Rambut pun minta tolong mak you lah basuhkan. Kepala sandar ke belakang lah. Macam tu... Okay.. You boleh balik sekarang..
Ms. K : Thankyou nurse...
It was then, the next day I saw Dr. Hari who checked on my eye lid. Then, today; Thursday, went again to see him.
Dr. Hari : Good. Good. It's good lah your eye. Usually, some people's eye will go black ah at that area. It's good lah with hers. So the ointment you can put twice a day lah ha. Cuz it's so oily ya.
Ms. K : Ya.. Thank you Dr.
Dr. Hari : So today the nurse will take out one line of the stitches. Later saturday will remove everything if it's okay la ha.
Ms. K : Okay.. Thanks Dr..
Current condition :
1) After the removal of the first row of stitches, it hurts at time.
2) Eye lid is kinda itchy. Can't scratch. >.<
3) For the 1st time in 4 days after operation, I saw my own eye lid.
My reaction : That's soooooooooooooooooo creeepy..!!!!!
Again : Ewwww.! Ohmygosh.!!
Later : I looked like a ...............ohmy.!!
Conclusion : The row of second stitches really freaked me out.
Hoping for : This saturday the stitches will all be removed so that I need not got to class such way.
The don'ts and can'ts :
1) Eat soy sauce, egg, chilis, oily food, fried foods, nuts.
2) Exposed to dust.
3) Eyes get wet.
4) Scratch eyes.
So ya. For those who thinks that I got a cosmetic surgery, please drop such thoughts.
My vision were so terrible even after I got a new pair of glasses. Still my vision were never clearer since January 2011.
Then I decided to check up at THONEH; Tun Husseion Onn National Eye Hospital; and that is the result.
My eyelashes were growing inwards and it poked my eyeballs and they were all scratched.
Our cornea shouldn't be scratching but mine was badly scratched by my own eyelashes.
So yeah.
I got a double eye lid surgery for medical purposes. Not cosmetic purpose.
And it really hurts right now.
So don't ask too much later if you don't know the main reason.
